Through My Father’s Eyes

20130510_072314This is one of my very first inspirational quilts, Through My Father’s Eyes.  Dad developed Alzhimers in his later years of life and I wanted to do a wall hanging that would depict his life here on earth. The eyes are scanned from a picture of him done during WWII in charcoal. I printed it onto fabric and then dyed the rest of the background fabric with all purpose inks. I hand appliqued each rose to depict each stage of life. His fullness of life, when he started to lose his memory and at the end. I can’t help but shed a tear every time I look at it.
